    time of inner reflection

With a short fasting cure in autumn, we relieve the body and prepare ourselves optimally for winter.

Back to the rhythm of nature: Autumn means looking inward, distancing yourself from the outside.

Why do deciduous trees shed their leaves in autumn? It's their way of preparing themselves: the leaves give off water, which is hard to get in winter. The cycle continues every year: in spring the metabolism awakens, in summer it reaches its energy peak, and in autumn it slows down again. It's no different for us humans. As soon as we get less sun, our metabolism becomes noticeably sluggish. Food that is difficult to digest causes us more trouble, and nutrients are generally metabolized more slowly. We suffer from constipation more often, we are often mentally depressed, and in general we seem to lack energy. Given this starting point, it's no surprise that we are more susceptible to infections in autumn. So how do we get through this time well?

    Recalling ancient knowledge

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the oldest documented medical science, views the body holistically.

"According to TCM, autumn is associated with the mucous membranes."

In order for the "Qi", our life energy, to flow well, nutrition based on the 5 elements plays an important role. According to TCM, autumn has a cooling and drying effect on the organism, so anything that warms and moisturizes is recommended for staying healthy. Light food, lemon balm and St. John's wort tea and lukewarm baths are advisable.
