TEM - Traditional European Medicine

Traditional European Medicine is both a natural science and a spiritual science. Knowledge of the essence of nature united chemistry and alchemy, physics and metaphysics, astronomy and astrology, psychology and magic. In TEM, deviations from the state of health were mostly remedied with herbal, but also mineral remedies.
All of the products that the World Pharmacy carries in the field of phytotherapy (mother tinctures, gemmotherapy, essential oils, floral waters) and in the field of mineral therapy (oligoelements, lithotherapy) are obtained from the Phytopharma company in Ternberg, Austria. Excellent products, special people and the motto "With great respect for people" characterize this company.
The history and use of herbal remedies in TEM.
TEM may not have been around as long as TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), but all traditional systems agree that:
  • Illness can be seen as a lost balance.
  • Everything has mental, emotional and energetic causes.
  • The living being is the focus, i.e. the whole human being, the whole plant and not just individual organs or parts
  • A good lifestyle and healthy eating are essential for maintaining health.
  • All knowledge of the world that we possess on earth comes only from the light of nature. This light of nature extends from the visible to the invisible and is as wonderful here as there. In the light of nature the invisible is visible." (Paracelsus)
mother tinctures
These are alcoholic extracts of the fresh (not dried!) plant. This produces a very intense, effective plant tincture, which is also the starting product for homeopathic preparations. Phytopharma prepares mother tinctures according to the strict guidelines of the Swiss Pharmacopoeia. The harvesting regulations result in over 50% of the plants growing wild. The World Pharmacy stocks all mother tinctures, from algae (bladderwrack) to horsetail (horsetail).
Gemmotherapy/embryonic cell therapy
Gemmotherapy uses exclusively embryonic plant tissue, i.e. plant parts that are particularly prone to division, such as buds, shoots and root tips. They are mixed with glycerine to extract hormones, enzymes and plant protein from the plants. The abundance of protein in these plant parts is enormous. It uses the protein language of our blood to trigger a strong healing impulse in the cell. Our entire immune system speaks "protein language". Protein is the communicator within our body. Gemmotherapy is a very rational healing method, as the healing process can be followed via the blood count (protein fractions). The World Pharmacy stocks all of Phytopharma's gemmotherapeutics, from maple to cedar shoots.
Essential oils
The essential oil is the pure liquid essence of the plant. Essential oils have a direct effect on the limbic system in the brain stem and thus on the mental and emotional level. They have antiseptic, antiviral, antiparasitic and fungicidal properties. In order to meet the highest standards in terms of purity and quality, only those of food quality should be used. The World Pharmacy stocks all essential oils from Phytopharma, from anise to cypress.
floral waters
Real floral waters are produced using gentle steam distillation according to a centuries-old tradition. The floral water obtained in this way contains all the valuable information in a very mild, skin-friendly form. Real floral waters may not contain any preservatives.
Application:
  • They can be applied to the skin with fingers or cotton wool.
  • They can be sprayed onto the skin with a spray to be particularly refreshing and economical at the same time
  • They can be used as a mild perfume
  • Flower waters are a good addition to bath water, especially for children, as they lack the "sharpness" of essential oils.
  • Use in the kitchen to perfume desserts
Oligoelements Oligoelement is just another name for trace element, comes from the Greek ("oligo") and means little or small. It is intended to describe that this is a group of minerals that are only needed by the organism in very small amounts (traces). But are indispensable for its biological function. No enzymatic reaction in the body (and there are many hundreds known) could take place without oligoelements. Nutrition is particularly important here, because various preservatives block (chelate) the effect of oligoelements in enzymatic reactions. (Metabolic processes no longer function, physical and mental abilities are slowed down) The following substances are essential for all living beings: hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, magnesium, phosphorus, sulphur, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, copper and zinc. Also essential for humans are: sodium, chlorine, cobalt, selenium and iodine. Using oligotherapy, trace elements are offered in ionic form (i.e. free of any mineral or organic structure). The organism does not have to ionize them first to make them usable, as is necessary when ingesting them through food, for example. The ionized form enables absorption through the oral mucosa. The World Pharmacy stocks all oligoelements from aluminum (Al) to tin (Sn).
lithotherapy/stone healing
Stone healing is a special part of mineral therapy, as it offers minerals in a naturally bound state. For example, it is not the chemical pure substance lithium that is used, but lepidolite (mica), the rock that naturally contains lithium, in an alcoholic solution. While the advantage of oligotherapy lies primarily in the fact that trace elements are used very specifically, the great therapeutic effectiveness of lithotherapy lies in the fact that a broad and often very complex mental and physical structure is addressed. In the Middle Ages, it was mainly the alchemists who were involved in stone healing. According to Paracelsus, everything is largely determined by the basic elements mercury, sulphur and salt. Since there is an analogy between man and the cosmos, man finds the right remedy in his immediate environment. This is why minerals and stones play a particularly important role in "Paracelsian" therapy. The history of lithotherapy took a decisive development in the 19th century thanks to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy. In the 20th century, Rudolf Steiner developed lithotherapy further with his anthroposophical teachings. In the late 20th century, Doctor Henri Pol (the founder of gemmotherapy) pursued various lithotherapeutic approaches. A very complex form of gem healing also emerged in the Orient, India and China, independent of the European tradition.
