The Power of Good Thoughts
We have internalized our beliefs for a long time. But they are not set in stone.
Human thinking is fascinating: around 50,000 thoughts arise in our heads on an average day. And these have a significant influence on our feelings and actions. But our personality is formed less by everyday thoughts and more by our deepest convictions and beliefs. These are the attitudes that determine how we feel about ourselves and the world around us. We are absolutely convinced of the truth of these views. Because many of them were passed on to us in childhood by our parents and other authority figures.
SOS: Get out of the thought carousel
Beliefs are important to us because they give us orientation in life. However, it becomes problematic when our beliefs are predominantly negative. Pessimistic thoughts can poison our emotional world. Before we know it, we are stuck in a carousel of thoughts and are in danger of developing depression or other illnesses that are harmful to our mental health. If the psychological stress is acute, the first aid program consists of getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and ensuring a good supply of nutrients through a balanced diet. In addition, we should tidy up our lives and consciously take time for relaxation. Mind-body therapies such as meditation, yoga and relaxation or breathing exercises are helpful here. If the negative spiral continues, however, we need to go deeper, get help and, above all, exchange our negative beliefs for positive ones. Because an optimistic attitude not only makes life more beautiful, it also contributes to strong immune systems and thus to staying healthy.
affirmations.
How we can reprogram our thinking and direct it towards the positive.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are short, self-affirming sentences. They help us to remind ourselves every day of what we want to achieve - until we finally believe them. Affirmations can be used for motivation, as a source of strength and to calm ourselves down. They work when we repeat them every day, out loud or quietly.
How are affirmations formulated?
Affirmations are concise, positive, formulated in the first person and in the present tense. Mental images are also good, e.g.: "I am as calm as a mountain lake." If self-praise is not (yet) your thing, rephrase it: "I am so clever" becomes "Every day I believe more in myself and my abilities." Self-love also helps: "I deserve..."
